I think there is probably a solution for this infestation in the States, but no one will ever take the steps to do it. Think Silent Spring.

It’s the responsibility of property owners to wipe out every single nest they find. If my neighbor has fire ant mounds and refuses to treat them, you can bet I’m going to be making some late night trips to his yard to keep them from spreading to everyone’s yards.
