He and his ilk sadly have a rather large support base in this country, as made clear by the kind of responses we’ve seen today. If anything, it’s clear they represent a silent majority in this country and that’s a truly depressing thought.

Do not fall for the “silent majority” ploy. Things are worse than they appeared in the ’90s, but a lot better than they were in the ’60s. If you want to assess the state of race relations in America, get some metrics.

(Hell, the mayor hasn’t even dropped an IED from a helicopter yet.)
