In 1994, the gop picked up 54 house seats and 8 senate seats. If the gop “dwarfs” those results in Nov, they will then have both houses, with a majority in the House bigger than what they had from 2000-2006. Possible, but not likely. For one thing, we don’t have 1994’s electorate any longer; demographically, it’s quite different, mostly in ways that don’t favor the gop.

The gop’s main problem is that they aren’t really growing their base; if anything, they’re shrinking it. Instead of finding ways to appeal to minority voters, they’re finding new ways to alienate them.

Ayep. The “white, male, social conservative” vote is slowly going the way of disco. The GOP as a party needs to get with the times or it’s gonna find itself continuing to be marginalized, with occasional spurts of success as the Dems run into this crisis or that.
