It’s a problem. But, we’re not fighting a major world depression right now, and we’ve seen it before. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy, but we’re not exactly in the same boat.

In a weird way, that makes it even worse - had we had a major economic crisis last year, I’d have been far less surprised by Cheeto Benito’s win. Things were so bad in post-WWI Germany one could understand how so many fell prey to a demagogue. Same as how, with North Korea, you can understand why the populace would believe crazy things since they’ve been subjected to extreme coercive propaganda all their lives.

But America? The wounds, it seems, are entirely self-inflicted and absurdly unnecessary. It’s a nation pretty much derping itself to death.
