Once in 29 Palms, a Marine parked a van on a hill, and went to use the head. While he was away, the van rolled down hill a 1/4 mile and hit the tent I was sleeping in. Luckily, I was a sleep, in my sleeping back, on a cot, so I got hit by the front grill and wasn’t crushed by the tires. I got launched about 40ft, woke up wondering WTF happened as MPs were rushing to the scene. They told me to get back to my tent, when I told them “That was my tent.” Ended up with the whole left side of my body being one big bruise for about a week.

This doesn’t surprise me only because I’m convinced that 29 Palms is a hellhole magically cursed by the ancients.
