Yes, I get that, and it’s pretty obvious to me, as a resident of an extremely conservative, church-centered county (with a lot of backward ideas), that local elections do matter, but what can be done if we can’t get more forward thinking people to crack into local politics?

I’m too old to run for anything, besides having no connections, and while this formerly rural county is developing into a bedroom community for Charlotte, the newbies are mostly fleeing the city because of their own prejudices. If I could afford to move into a location with a better balance and an even chance for more progressive types, I would, but until then, I’m just seen as a malcontent.
