• There are 62 million U.S. women in their childbearing years (15-44). [1] About 43 million of them (70%) are at risk of unintended pregnancy—that is, they are sexually active and do not want to become pregnant, but could become pregnant if they and their partners fail to use a contraceptive method correctly and consistently.

784,507 / 62,000,000 means that on average 1.2% of US women in their childbearing years have an abortion in any given year. Except that the numbers of abortions has been falling steadily for over two decades, so that percentage decreases every single year.

I have a M.S. degree, but it really doesn’t take one to understand that you need to put numbers in some kind of a useful framework before spouting off about what is the exception and what is the rule. The fact that hundreds of thousands of induced abortions are performed every year sounds like a lot, because that’s how assholes and idiots like to use raw numbers, without understanding, absent from any useful context.
