Although it feels validating to think that, I don’t think the GOP is full of morans, morons, or maroons, for that matter. I think they are so steeped in anti-intellectualism, common sense worship and driving by the seat of their pants, anything that looks like it validates their biases, no matter how ridiculous it looks to someone in the know, they’ll accept it as a given. Tell them they are wrong, or worse, show them they are wrong and they hunker down in their belief and assume your motives are the real problem.
