AMERICAN TROOPS APPROACHING THE SEINE RIVER 🥀
▪️Today, we took this incredible Then & Now photograph with my friend SNAFU DOCS in the northern part of Fontainebleau, France.
In this picture you can see elements of the 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division advancing cautiously behind a M-10 tank destroyer toward the Seine River.
The 5th Infantry Division is a less known unit since they didn’t arrive in Normandy on D-Day. However, the unit was made up of a group of brave and tenacious men who saw heavy combat during the Battle of Vidouville, Hill 183, Angers, and encounter as well as many more intense battles in the Eastern part of France, Luxembourg, and Germany.
We should never forget them.
