Probably just do to improved diet overall. Remember, until 100 years ago, much of the world’s population was perched on the edge of starvation, they were lucky to eat meat once or twice a month.

Anyway, there was a spot when a roommate and I would be lucky just to get cheap ground beef. I shit you not, meat was so rare for us at the time that we felt a buzz after eating it.
