Lizards, tell me one thing. Is Ron Paul a tea party darling? I know it started with him, but what now?

“It” did not “start with him”. He and his followers who are a subset of the tea party love to claim that, but the Tea Party of 2009ff, the movement that actually got coverage and persists to be dominant today is not primarily Paulian. I think this might have been in the beginning due to mainstream conservatives and former Bush supporters taking over, but I think that today it’s more because Ron Paul’s special brand of paleoconservative libertarianism is too complex of an ideology. The average Tea Partier, in my opinion, just likes right-wing firebreaths like Palin, Bachmann, McCain or even Rand Paul, who are more about anti-government polemics than anti-government philosophy.
