Is it beyond the pale to hope that an open border is a good thing and not just about terrorism?

I have a very open mind.

Part of the purpose of closing the crossing was an attempt to undermine support for Hamas among the people of Gaza. It didn’t work. Since the strip is ruled by a terrorist organization the opening will assist terrorism. It’s also very dangerous if Egypt starts allowing weapons shipments through. It’s the kind of thing that could lead to another war.
