When I took my driver’s test in 1969, we still had to know those hand signals. I’ve often wondered if my turn signals didn’t work now and I used them, whether anybody would know what the hell I was doing, or if it would keep a cop from giving me a ticket for turning without signaling?

The best bike rodeo manual says don’t bother trying to teach kids those signals. Everybody gets confused and loses focus on the one thing the rodeo should focus on; Stop, look both ways, look both ways again, then go if clear.
