Obviously time to bring out the infamous Republican cannibal Alferd (not āAlfredā) Packer.
In 1968, students at the University of Colorado Boulder named their new cafeteria grill the āAlferd G. Packer Memorial Grillā, with the slogan, āHave a friend for lunch!ā
In 1977, the US Secretary of Agriculture, Bob Bergland, attempted to terminate a contract for the departmentās cafeteria food service but was prevented by the General Services Administration (GSA). To embarrass the GSA, Bergland and his employees convened a press conference on August 10, 1977, to unveil a plaque naming the executive cafeteria āThe Alferd Packer Memorial Grillā, announcing that Packerās life exemplified the spirit and fare of the cafeteria and would āserve all mankindā.
The annual Philadelphia Folk Festival features a dining tent emblazoned with the tongue-in-cheek moniker: āThe Alfred E. Packer Memorial Dining Hallā¦serving humanity since 1874ā.
