they simply won’t admit that they weren’t paying attention during algebra

Numbers are just abstract concepts anyway. Even if they got the idea, that does not mean they know how to map it to the real world. There are very few things in life that expose us to exponential growth.

What they truly lack once again is empathy. They cannot think of how others might be impacted.
