I’m embarrassed as an American. I feel some real shame here. Do we not believe in religious freedom? I guess not really. Just lip service. Kinda hard to look a Muslim friend in the eye and not feel this.

Two things besides the emotion hit me. First and foremost, so what if he is Muslim? (screaming in frustration all caps withheld)

His skin color and name let this propaganda stick. If not for the overlay of anti Muslim bigotry none of this would have gotten any traction at all.

Imagine a similar accusation aimed at Clinton or Warren.
