We now have radio transmissions from the ship to emergency authorities, calling a mayday and urging that the bridge be closed to traffic as a hit was possible/likely. Police managed to close the bridge to traffic and were trying to figure out how to reach the workers on the bridge. As they were trying to figure out the latter, the bridge collapsed. 6 workers remain missing and presumed killed.

The ship’s crew did their jobs in trying to get word out to prevent a far greater tragedy. It remains subject to investigation why the ship lost power and what the root cause of the failure.
