But the sex harassment charges are the only way to stop Kavanaugh. Collins is absolutely determined to believe Kavanaugh will vote to protect Roe, and the other GOP Senators will vote for him because they know he will vote to gut Roe.

The GOP knows that they will lose votes either way; if they back down they will lose face and support among their base, if they vote for him they will lose voters from the non-base moderate voters.

I suspect that they will just damn the torpedoes, swallow the vomit rising in their throats and vote him in to get their conservative majority on the Court and take their chances with Congress, they can always recover any seats they might lose, but once Kavanaugh is on the Court, he is there for decades to come.
