It’s purely the consequence of letting the far right nutters take over the GOP.

Reagan raised the debt ceiling 18 times when he was in office. Dubya did it 7 times with many of the same GOP members of Congress. It was never an issue.

Black guy gets elected to the White House and NOW it’s an issue. WTF.

In fairness there has been a small contingent that’s been unhappy with it even while Reagan was in the house.

We used to call them the black helicopter crowd.
