re: #86 Pie-onist Overlord
I take it they’ve survived without it then?
In my neighborhood they built a super Walmart about 8 yrs ago or so. It was always busy, seemed to be doing well. Then about 5 yrs later they built a second one about 3 miles down the same road, another super Walmart. They then literally walled off half of the first store (the other half has sat empty since then) and made it smaller. I have no idea why, unless the actual idea was to just own two big tracts of land and not pay any taxes on them. Meanwhile a lot of smaller businesses that were around before Walmart are gone now, hardware stores, a couple smaller groceries and pharmacies all gone. I still have no clue why any business would do that, there’s plenty of space on this particular State Route to spread the stores out farther so both could do a good amount of business.
