Oh, of course. Slavery wasnât racist because the Africans were sold into slavery originally by other Africans. And there were black slaveowners. And there were white slaves*.
When someone tries to tell me slavery wasnât racist for one of those reasons, I ask whether a black person could own a white person, and his children. They generally stop responding at that point.
*No, they werenât. They were really indentured servants whose indentures would expire and whose children were not born slaves
