While I welcome Merchan’s “Next stop is the clink” speech, the fact that he threw in a “You’re a former prez and maybe the next one, and I really don’t want to do this” qualifier really makes me question his resolve.

Quite frankly, that kind of phrasing just signals “I ain’t gonna jail you, I don’t have it in me.”

And it won’t be jail. It’ll be house arrest in VonShitzenpantz’s fucking penthouse in Midtown, where he’ll still be allowed to do whatever the fuck he wants.

That’s assuming Merchan isn’t assassinated by Trumps Secret Service detail.

But you get the drift.

He hasn’t given him jail time yet because the prosecution hasn’t asked for jail time yet. Also, Trump’s Secret Service detail are still FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT agents - they’re not going to defy or assassinate a judge for Trump. They’ve already been working with authorities in New York to figure out how things would work if Trump were incarcerated.
