That's something I can't say right now. Between work, gaming, and finance, I cannot be late on things this week. I've got to get things done.

I had the urge to get my jammies on with the feet ... reminds me of Saturday mornings in front of the tv with milk spilling down my pjs ... Felix the Cat ... one of my favorites ...

Probably not. But could and should announce a total cut-off of all aid to the Norks if they launch that missile. Robert Gates is right to be "tired of buying the same horse twice". It's time Kim Jong-il was informed that the US can and will make his life worse and leave it that way if he does this. We don't need to open fire to hurt the Norks.

So we have these radical murdering religious fanatics who swim in a sea of moderate co-religionists who quite sincerely abhor the actions of the insane, BUT are nonetheless defensive about criticism from outside their religion, and suddenly wind up with a mouthful of mealy excuses and partial justification of the monstrous, reprehensible, execrable, act.
Sounds familiar.

Some more information on Scott Roeder:
Roeder, who in the 1990s was a manufacturing assemblyman, was also involved in the "Freemen" movement.
"Freemen" claimed sovereignty from government jurisdiction.
Adherents declared themselves exempt from laws, regulations and taxes.
In April 1996, Roeder was arrested in Topeka after Shawnee County sheriff’s deputies stopped him for having a license plate that read, "Sovereign private property. Immunity declared by law. Non-commercial American." They found bomb-making materials in his car.
He was sentenced in June 1996 to 24 months of probation, which ended six months early when the Kansas Court of Appeals overturned his conviction.
Morris Wilson, commander of the Kansas Unorganized Citizens Militia in the mid-1990s, said he knew Roeder fairly well.
"I’d say he’s a good ol’ boy except he was just so fanatic about abortion," Wilson said.
Suzanne James, former director of victims’ services for Shawnee County, said she remembers Roeder.
"He was part of the One Supreme Court, a Freemen group based out of Shawnee County," James said. "He was fanatic about a lot of things. I went to one of his court appearances and thought, 'This guy is dangerous.’ There were a lot of red flags that came up about him."

We can cut off trade: Any bank that deals with North Korea after a five day warning period should no longer be allowed to do business with the US. Also, cut off all aid to the North. Those step will make them feel a pinch.

CARACAS, Venezuela – President Hugo Chavez says he has a new book for President Barack Obama: "What is to be Done?" by communist Vladimir Lenin, founder of the Soviet state.
Chavez says he'll "give it to Obama at the next meeting."
"What is to be Done?" is Lenin's political treatise on the role of intellectuals and the proletariat in promoting revolution, written more than a decade before he led the Bolshevik takeover of Russia in 1917.

Fears of Muslim anger over religious book
An academic book about religious attitudes to women is to be published this week despite concerns it could cause a backlash among Muslims because it criticises the prophet Muhammad for taking a nine-year-old girl as his third wife.
The book, entitled Does God Hate Women?, suggests that Muhammad's marriage to a child called Aisha is "not entirely compatible with the idea that he had the best interests of women at heart".
It also says that Cherie Blair, wife of the former prime minister, was "incorrect" when she defended Islam in a lecture by claiming "it is not laid down in the Koran that women can be beaten by their husbands and their evidence should be devalued as it is in some Islamic courts".
Expect much seething over this one.

Brazilian novelist, wrote "The Alchemist" and "The Zahir" (not to be confused with the classic short story of the same name by Borges). I read "The Zahir" recently. I could write several pages slagging it off but I'll restrict myself here to a quick summary: Terrible self celebrating chattering class mid life crisis hippy rubbish.
"Much loved author" is how he is described on the cover of his books, which I've since realised is code for 'critically unacclaimed shit".

Just an odd little observation here on the MSM and their surrogates: They observe massive and horrific killing of children in the name of Islam, and they start talking about root causes, their environment, their poverty, how the U.S. has mistreated them, and how we had it coming. They don't talk about anyone on their side inciting them to do it, or the religious philosophy behind it.
This bastard shoots a single adult male and they talk about which of their political adversaries caused him to do it, and how their views incite people to "violence". Imagine if some segment of the media started interviewing people who expressed sympathy and understanding for this guy, and pondered the "root cause" of his anger.
Personally, I have to wonder what security measures a guy like this doctor takes. It would seem, none. I take far more measures than that and I haven't focused the attention of thousands of potentially violent people on me. No amount of moral condemnation, by the way, is going to change these people. Why they think they are going to get control of this sort of thing is beyond me.

The more that comes out the scarier this dude becomes.
If I read correctly this afternoon the bomb making material case was dismissed. He had many other priors. Most of the notorious cases this year involved people with priors convictions and what I consider soft sentencing.
It's been a crazy year thus far with the mass shootings in Alabama and New York. Also the other cases such as the police shootings in Pittsburgh and Oakland.

I think it's been going on ever since the racists skinhead thing started. The skinheads I knew and hung out with in the UK in the late 80's/early nineties were all the ska/ mod scene types. I think the vast majority of the skinheads in the uk at least were of that type. The nazi skinhead thing still seems to dominate public perceptions though - I put that down to the fact that being a nazi scumbag is a more effective way of making the news than sitting around listening to The Selecter and smoking a few spliffs.

Yep. I never delved into the underground scene. I've seen it around and it's usually easy to tell the difference. Some waif girl with a skinhead haircut usually means safe. Some buffed up skinhead guy with an Iron Cross tattoo in the back of his neck means neo-Nazi. Tattoo or even general demeanor are the best indicator.
Once I was went to a local video rental store and some weird looking guy came in -- sort of like a goth but he was wearing a Nazi like uniform with a Swastika arm band. I was taken aback and couldn't believe what I was seeing.
Rambling here. Used to love ska while practicing on the guitar. Natural progression from reggae rhythm styles.

I bought an HP-11C calculator around 1986. Still works nicely. Right around when the HPs got affordable we all realized what junk those LED TI calculators were. Those clumsy tiny buttons that were so hard to push.

Agree with all of that. Also, nazi skinheads just don't mix socially with normal people.
Ok - time for a ska classic now - you'll remember this one:

Sounds like a long-time nut who finally turned his violent fantasies into reality. Not insane, though. He must never leave prison alive ( and I'm not opposed to Capital Punishment for him). However, I will still pray that he comes to repent of his many and grievous sins:
May he, and all those who have allowed their minds to become clouded by the smog of fanaticism, come to fuller understanding of the mission and teachings of Jesus Christ. May they repent of their deeds and find His mercy and forgiveness.
Amen.
Before I was expelled from a Baptist school (no harm, no foul), I was questioned about my less-than-Christian attitutde toward a classmate who had been on my nerves greatly.
I denied any such feelings, and described how I, of course, wanted the young man to go to heaven. Soon.

re: #23 Charles
Andrew Sullivan linked to one of my Tiller posts... along with an Operation Rescue video about Dr. Tiller that's mind-warpingly horrific. The propaganda they were putting out about Tiller was designed to get him killed, there's very little doubt.
That Operation Rescue video is horrific. "Graphic" doesn't even begin to describe it.
There can't be any question that it was designed to get Tiller killed. Everything about it, from the gruesome images, to the captions about Tiller, to statements like "Together We Can Put An End To George Tiller, Abortion and These Horrific Crimes", to the music choice--a very weird semi-martial kind of feel-- anyone who watches it will have to agree it was designed to get him killed.
Of course, the OR apologists won't watch it. They'll point to the hypocritical and falsely pious statement OR made about Tiller's death instead. They'll say that Roeder was just a lone whacko who only commented twice over there. They'll say Roeder was just a nut looking to act out and he just happened to pick Tiller.
Similarly, the rightwing whacko cohort will ignore or downplay the Sovereign Citizen connection, the O'Reilly statements, the crazy talk about armed insurrection and revolution being pumped out by people like Glenn Beck and Pam Atlas.
In other words, the usual suspects who helped to create a climate of hate can be expected to deny their moral responsibility for the role they played in this..

Yep. You have it about right, Charles.
Bloodnok: That was the line that gave me chills, as well. Not too many ways you can parse "putting an end" to somebody. I thought I'd seen some offensive stuff, but this video is over the top of the top in its direct incitement.

Not only that, but place that statement in the context of the whole video, all of which is clearly designed to inflame people. And the fact that Tiller had been shot once before, right? In 92?
Then it becomes completely clear that they intend "put an end to" to be parsed in only one way.
