New Right Wing Fast and Furious Talking Point: Liberals Are Heartless Monsters
I notice that the wingnut blogs are settling on a new line of attack for the “Fast and Furious” fake outrage: if you point out that the whole thing is a politically driven phony scandal, that means you’re a heartless monster who doesn’t care about murdered agent Brian Terry, his family, or the “brown people” (yes, I saw a post with those words) that are killed by the Obama administration’s guns.
I think I’m summarizing their talking point accurately. And now breitbart.com hitman John Nolte is going after Politico’s Roger Simon from exactly this angle: POLITICO’S CHIEF POLITICAL COLUMNIST MOCKS FAST & FURIOUS!
With a big picture of Brian Terry, in case you missed Nolte’s point:
Of course, no one is mocking the loss of Brian Terry or making fun of Terry’s family, when they criticize this partisan, over-wrought investigation. The Terry family’s losses are very real — unlike the accusations that the Obama administration engaged in a cover-up, and unlike the crazy conspiracy theory that Fast and Furious was part of a plot to deprive conservatives of their Second Amendment rights.
But it’s more than a little disturbing to see the eagerness with which people like John Nolte and Darrell Issa exploit images of Terry to manipulate their right wing wing followers’ emotions. Nolte isn’t “mocking” Terry and his family — he’s using them for political purposes.
With one Politico scalp in his belt, John Nolte’s now targeting another of their writers. Who could have predicted that?
