The “Queen Of Canada” continues with her antics.

vice.com

Canadian police have set up a “mobile temporary detachment” in the small town where the so-called “QAnon Queen of Canada” and her followers have taken over a school.

For almost a month now, Romana Didulo—a QAnon influencer who has convinced her followers she’s the true Queen of Canada who is waging a secretive war against a cabal of pedophile elites, among a myriad of other esoteric beliefs—has been living in an abandoned school in the tiny Saskatchewan town of Richmound. Along with Didulo is a core group of about 10 or so followers who have given up their lives to travel with her and listen to every demand.

On Tuesday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) held a town-wide meeting hoping to quell some of the fears that the locals have about their new neighbors. A local who was at the meeting told VICE News that it was well attended and the man who actually owns the school and is allowing Didulo to live on the property, showed up and filmed it. During the meeting, the RCMP told the locals the community was not at risk from the group.

The QAnon group was defiant in reaction to the meeting. During their nightly live stream, Darlene Ondi, Didulo’s second-in-command who essentially works as the group’s press secretary, demonized the locals and said both the mayor and police are corrupt. The man who is letting the group use the school, and attended the meeting said the RCMP are stopping all vehicles which leave the school. They referred to locals, who suggested that people who are there to visit the cult should check in with police first, as “Nazis.”

The group is planning on hosting a “meet and greet” on October 14, where they will hold a bizarre ritual where followers declare themselves sovereign in order to receive a fat stack of Didulo’s fake currency. The group has held similar events across the country. The group has been bringing in chain link fencing, portable toilets, and other materials to aid with the event.

REBECCA SCHOENKOPF at Wonkette isn’t having any of the both-sides regarding the Hamas attack.

This Is Fucked, Y’all

I’m not really that Jewish. I could give two shits about Israel. Everybody knows Netanyahu’s an asshole.

And from that not-very-Jewish, non-zionist perspective I am telling you: If you don’t think you’re being a raging antisemite right now, the chances are you’re probably wrong.

There will no longer be any comments on any posts about Israel and Palestine. Because you — you in particular? just maybe, could be! — have decided it’s more important to “what about” than to just say “IT IS WRONG TO CHOP BABIES’ HEADS OFF.”

The whole post is on fire. I don’t follow Wonkette closely. I check in maybe once a week. I have contributed a few times and have today.

Another Republican acting atrociously is now more famous and heading into upper tier MAGA grift $$$ territory. I didn’t recognize his name but saw that he was the same dude that cussed out the Senate pages in the Capital Rotunda.

BY NIKKI MCCANN RAMIREZ at Rolling Stone

Rep. Derrick Van Orden has moved on from cussing out teenagers to cussing out White House staff providing Congress with national security briefings.

Van Orden reportedly interrupted a congressional briefing by White House officials on the unfolding conflict between Israel and Hamas, cursing at the presenters, calling them “pathetic,” and yelling “fuck you” at Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.), according to Politico. Phillips, a Jewish Democrat, had reportedly interjected into Van Orden’s verbal tirade with an exclamation of “shame on you.”

Here is a public mia culpa and a good laundry list of the many ways Republicans are so depraved. The list of MAGA sins is so long that I need reminding of some of them. This screed serves as good ammo when I have discussions with cousin Cleetus.

I apologize, Kentucky
A ‘conservative’ pundit regrets any part he might have played in the Trumpification of his once Grand Old Party

To my dismay, Republicans who had loudly thumped the Bible and William J. Bennett’s “The Book of Virtues” either openly embraced, tacitly collaborated with, or timidly tolerated Trump, a moral obscenity of a man who personified virtually every vice and normalized vulgarity from “grab ‘em by the p—y,” to liability for sexual assault, to business fraud, and much more.

Looks like the replay of January’s speaker’s vote is going to be a farce this time.

Same cast of seditious treasonweasels are throwing in against Scalise, who doesn’t have the numbers to win.

Donalds was repeatedly nominated and won a few votes (more in fact than Trump did when he was nominated by Gaetz). Everlasting gobstopping social climber Stefanik is also looking at a run. Hern is also in. Add in McCarthy and Jordan, and you’ve got a steel cage match where everyone loses - especially the American people - because the GOP simply refuses to govern. Obstruction by way of blocking the naming of a Speaker is part of their overall goal to thwart governance and funding government programs.

The swelling congressional support for Mr. Jordan didn’t make him speaker, but it might nonetheless herald the emergence of a new, alternative Trumpist governing elite — one authentically loyal to Donald Trump’s pugilistic brand of politics, and one that would pose a fundamental challenge to what remains of the beleaguered Republican ‘establishment.’”

“elite” Nate Cohen, really?

Because

Considering the track record of Jim Jordan, it is absolutely insane that nearly half of the Republicans in the House want to make him one of the two or three faces of the Party, not to mention the person third in line for the presidency. This is not like Trump, where the Republicans were basically stuck with him. 49.3% of them are choosing to cast their lot with Jordan. We say again: This is not a healthy, normally functioning political faction….

That’s by design, because the delay obstructs govt operations, and adds to the urgency knowing that the last CR was only 45 days long, and the GOP are eating up all that time trying to figure out who the Speaker is to negotiate with Democrats, knowing that they can’t pitch anything to anyone in the caucus without spurring yet another vote to vacate.

For those who are still doubting that Israelis and Bibi knew that something was in the offing from Hamas, we get this:

I trust Noga as a source, and this jibes with what happened. Bibi’s government failed the Israeli people in the basic role of protecting against threats from Hamas and terrorism more generally. His efforts to eliminate an independent judiciary broke the military too - as Israelis railed against Bibi’s disastrous policy choices and failed to account for how this affected security posture.

The IAF apparently hit the Syrian airports in Damascus and Aleppo. Further online reports seen elsewhere state both airports are now out of commission.

“This aggression is a desperate attempt by the criminal Israeli enemy to divert attention from the crimes it is committing in Gaza and the huge losses it suffers at the hands of the Palestinian resistance, which is part of the ongoing approach to supporting extremist terrorist groups that the Syrian army is fighting in the north of the country, which constitute an armed arm of the Israeli entity,” said a “military source” to the Syrian state news agency SANA.

During the strikes, an Iranian Mahan Air flight that was about to land in Syria turned back to Tehran. Mahan Air has been shown to transport weapons, operatives, and funds for the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and Hezbollah.

The Damascus International Airport and the Aleppo International Airport are frequently used by Iran to transfer weapons, equipment, and operative to its proxies in the region, including Hezbollah.

Additionally, during the strikes, a plane on which Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was in the air heading out of Iran, landing shortly afterward in Baghdad. The foreign minister is reportedly expected to visit Lebanon in the coming days.

Navarro could have testified in his defense.

His lawyers could have put up a defense.

They chose not to.

The jury took all of that into consideration and rendered a guilty verdict with the greatest of ease. It didn’t take anything outside of those aforementioned indisputable facts to render a verdict against Navarro.

This appeal will be denied.

Suck it up buttercup.

Even Likud ministers realize that Trump’s no friend to Israel. Trump’s comments this week following the terrorist attack show zero empathy and support for Israel.

This is yet another strategic failure by Bibi, who cozied up to Trump, even as Trump was giving away classified info including Israeli classified info/national security means to Russia who likely passed it on to Hamas via intermediaries (including likely Iran or others). That helped Hamas plan and plot against Israel, by negating some of Israel’s strategic intel gathering capabilities.

Mike Flynn holds MAGA ‘doomsday prophecy’ gathering: ‘Everything you believe in is right’

The far-right conspiracy theory retreat headlined by a former Donald Trump official in the Nevada desert called for executions of Trump supporters’ enemies and proclaimed the former president to have been anointed by God to cleanse the land, reported the Los Angeles Times on Thursday.

“Helmed by retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn — a supporter of the former president and a key figure in efforts to overturn the 2020 election — and Clay Clark, an Oklahoma entrepreneur and podcaster, the whirlwind event melds the MAGA movement, election denial, QAnon conspiracy theories and doomsday prophecy,” reported Sarah D. Wire.

Held in August right near Las Vegas, the two-day festival, billed as a church revival, “featured nearly 70 speakers who preached that vaccines are poisonous and will bring about the end of the world, that a cabal of global leaders is engaged in child sex trafficking and that the 2020 election was stolen.”

The gathering, known as the ReAwaken America Tour, featured a number of extremist speakers, with Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft telling the crowd, “The No. 1 message I can share with you is you are right. Everything you believe is right,” and radio host Stew Peters telling them, “When [Anthony Fauci] is convicted after a short and fast but thorough trial, he will hang up from a length of thick rope until he is dead. … When [Hunter Biden] is convicted … he will get … death!”

And it gets worse from there…

Israeli Minister Says Donald Trump Is ‘Shameful’

politicalwire.com

A Likud minister lashed out at Donald Trump’s critical comments about Israel last night saying it is “shameful that a man like that, a former US president, abets propaganda and disseminates things that wound the spirit of Israel’s fighters and its citizens,” the Times of Israel reports.

Said Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi: “We don’t have to bother with him and the nonsense he spouts.”

Asked if Trump’s comments make it clear that he can’t be relied on, Karhi replied: “Obviously.”

Holy Shaving Cream! It’s Beavis Vs. Butthead!

Cornel West debate with Alan Dershowitz goes off-the-rails: ‘Brother, you’ve got to get off the crack pipe’

Progressive activist and scholar Dr. Cornel West made a major announcement on Thursday, October 5. Instead of seeking the Green Party’s 2024 presidential nomination, he will run for president as an independent.

West’s announcement came two days before an event that has been dominating the headlines all around the world: Hamas’ vicious terrorist attack on Israel. According to Al Jazzeera, more than 2300 people have been killed in the Israel-Hamas War so far. But that number is likely to increase as Israeli forces’ anti-Hamas operations in Gaza continue.

West and law professor Alan Dershowitz debated the conflict during an October 11 appearance on WHERE ELSE BUT Sean Hannity’s Fox News program. And their debate became quite heated at times.

West and Dershowitz both slammed Hamas for the viciousness of their October 7 attack on Israel. But things became testy when Dershowitz tried to paint West as a Hamas sympathizer.

West told Dershowitz, “I have the same outrage when Palestinian babies are killed as when Israeli babies are killed. I want you to have the same indignation when Palestinians are killed.”

West described the conditions Palestinians are facing in Gaza as “no water, no electricity, no food.”

West told Dershowitz, “I’m not here to defend Hamas. Don’t you ever lie on me like that, brother. I’m defending the suffering of Palestinians. Anybody who commits war crimes is barbaric. I’m saying that explicitly. But I want you to say, if the Israeli Defense Force is killing children, are they barbaric too?…. They’ve never ever targeted a child? Brother, you’ve got to get off the crack pipe.”

MyPillow Goes Dark: Mike Lindell Pauses TV Ads Amid Financial Struggles

The once-ubiquitous MyPillow commercials that flooded the airwaves of Fox News and other cable television stations have all but disappeared over the past few weeks amid owner Mike Lindell’s ongoing financial problems, the linen company founder confirmed on Wednesday.

In a conversation with The Daily Beast, Lindell noted that the month-long TV break would end next week, adding that “you’re gonna see us everywhere again” and “it’s gonna be awesome.”

At the same time, the MyPillow CEO acknowledged that his company has faced increasing headwinds in recent months, which helped lead to the delay in getting back on television.

The MAGA pillow magnate, who said earlier this month that he has “no money” due to his quixotic quest to prove the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump, admitted in recent days that he paused his ads due to a lack of product to sell and lenders cutting him off.

The latest blow to his already struggling company comes at a perilous time for the pro-Trump conspiracy theorist. With Lindell and MyPillow currently facing billion-dollar defamation lawsuits from voting software firms Dominion and Smartmatic over his election lies, his legal team dumped him last week because he owes them millions of dollars that he cannot pay.

During Friday’s broadcast of his online show The Lindell Report, Lindell confessed that American Express had recently reduced his million-dollar credit line to $100,000, placing his company in an immediate bind when it came to paying vendors.

“And all the stuff overseas is late coming, so we’re waiting for our stuff that goes on TV,” he said. “That’s why you’re not seeing MyPillow on TV right now.”

Steve Scalise may drop out after winning nomination for Speaker

rawstory.com

Less than 24 hours after the House GOP nominated Majority Leader Steve Scalise to be the next Speaker, the Louisiana Republican who has served in Congress for 15 years reportedly is expected to drop out of the race. Nine days ago Republicans ousted their elected Speaker, Kevin McCarthy.

Newsmax late Thursday morning (video at the link) reports Scalise is unable to corral enough votes, and, according to their sources, “is expected to drop out of the race” as soon as today.

Any nominee will need at least 217 votes to become Speaker of the House. Scalise won the nomination with just 113 votes, beating Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan who received just 99 votes. But far-right House extremists, including Marjorie Taylor Greene, Nancy Mace, and George Santos among others, after Scalise became the nominee, pledged to vote for Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan.

“It’s just past 9:40pm and I have yet to hear from the Speaker-Designate,” Rep. Santos, now under criminal indictment on 23 felony charges, wrote on social media Wednesday night. “So I’ve made my decision and after 10 months and having had 0 contact or outreach from him, I’ve come to the conclusion that my VOTE doesn’t matter to him.”

“I’m now declaring I’m an ANYONE but Scalise and come hell or high water I won’t change my mind,” he added, later throwing his support to Jim Jordan. “We need a Speaker that leads by including every single member of the team not just some, That’s not leadership!”

Earlier Thursday Punchbowl News reported Scalise was having trouble convincing enough Republicans to back him, despite Jordan’s endorsement after losing the nominating race.

Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has consistently won the unanimous votes of the entire Democratic Caucus, 212. He could become Speaker if just five Republicans vote for him.

Chairman Jordan would likely re-enter the race, as would GOP Majority Whip Tom Emmer, Newsmax reports.

Punchbowl News, which published a partial list of anti-Scalise Republicans, reports “the real hard-core ‘Never Scalise’ vote is probably 20 to 30 members, although it’s hard to estimate. Scalise can only afford to lose four votes on the floor.”

Earlier Thursday Politico reported Scalise’s allies see a path forward for him.

Experts suggest no House business can be conducted - no legislation voted on or passed - until a Speaker is in place. That means any potential funding for Israel is on hold until Republicans choose a leader. And any funding for Ukraine, given both Jordan’s and Scalise’s positions, is unlikely even after a Speaker is chosen.

There are now just five weeks and one day before the government will shut down if legislation to fund the government is not passed and signed into law.

Physics is a marvelous framework for understanding how the Universe works, but there are a few gaps in its coverage. One of those is evolution.

Although biology should fall in line with physical theory, as most things do, that theory so far has not been able to predict evolution, and the emergence of traits and culture.

On the basis that it ought to be able to do so, an international team of scientists led by theoretical physicist Sara Walker of Arizona State University and chemist Lee Cronin of the University of Glasgow has found a way to bridge that gap.

They’ve called their new framework ‘Assembly Theory’, and say that it could help search for life on other worlds.

“Assembly theory provides a completely new lens for looking at physics, chemistry and biology as different perspectives of the same underlying reality,” Walker explains.

“With this theory, we can start to close the gap between reductionist physics and Darwinian evolution - it’s a major step toward a fundamental theory unifying inert and living matter.”

They propose this unification is evident when we consider objects not just as they currently are, but through the dimension of time, too, taking into account both how they formed and their potential to change.

To do this, the researchers built on their previous work, in which they compiled what they called a molecular complexity index.

To compile a molecular complexity index, they determined the smallest number of steps required to create each type of molecule, and assigned them a complexity based on the number of those steps. Only life and technological processes resulted in molecules that required more than 15 assembly steps.

In their new research, they have generated a mathematical framework for defining how much selection is required to produce a complex object - such as proteins or eyes or scales - from molecular building blocks.

It’s like the molecular complexity index, but on a more advanced scale.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that anyone who glorifies the crimes of Palestinian militant group Hamas, uses its symbols, condones murder, calls for criminal acts or burns Israeli flags could be prosecuted in Germany.

Speaking in the Bundestag, the German parliament, Scholz vowed “zero tolerance” on antisemitism and called on German law enforcement agencies to hold anyone who does such things accountable “with all the means that our defensible constitutional state offers.”

“These means expressly include bans on associations and activities. The Federal Ministry of the Interior will issue a ban on Hamas activities in Germany,” Scholz added.

AP News Article timestamped Updated 10:31 AM CDT, October 12, 2023: Wisconsin Republican leader won’t back down from impeachment threat against Supreme Court justice

Wisconsin’s Republican Assembly leader on Thursday refused to back down from possibly taking the unprecedented step of impeaching a newly elected liberal state Supreme Court justice over her refusal to step aside in a redistricting case, even after two former conservative justices advised him against it.

NYTimes (paywalled) article timestamped Oct. 12, 2023, 11:39 a.m. ET (so eight minutes later than above CDT timestamp): Wisconsin Republicans Retreat From Threats to Impeach Liberal Justice

Robin Vos, the powerful Republican speaker of the State Assembly, said at a news conference in Madison that he would not seek to remove Justice Protasiewicz based on the argument he and fellow Republicans had been making for two months — that statements she made calling the maps “rigged” during her campaign for office this year compelled impeachment if she refused to recuse herself from a case challenging them.

Waiting on clarity - hoping for good news. EDIT: Both articles say the same thing (no impeachment - for now). This is a tale of two headlines.

And this is another reminder that the security fence long touted by GOPers as a model - the fence between Gaza and Israel - was a complete failure as Hamas breached it in multiple places by multiple modes - including tunnels, direct breach, and by air.

The US border is not facing that threat no matter how frequently the GOP claims it is. GOP are actually going to defund the border, if they force a shutdown.

Yeah, get him the fuck out of the Senate.

and I have actually seen Republicans spin this as how those intolerant witch-hunting Democrats are not even going to wait for the outcome of court cases before turning on one of their own…

Why does Egypt insist on keeping the Rafah crossing closed to refugees?

Two reasons,
a) power play to induce pressure on Israel or others.
b) security concerns, they don’t want Hamas on top of MB to keep eyes on.

Because of my rural Texas address, I occasionally get Epoch Times promotional issues as inducements to subscribe. I’ve kept one in particular for historical interest as a perfect example of stalinist propaganda applied to praise the Trump administration.

They dump copies of that fascist rag in front of my apartment building. When I get my mail and see that crap I scoop it up and toss it in the dumpster where it belongs.

And no power or water or food provided to Gaza via Egypt?

Surprising absolutely no one frankly, based on what was in the original indictment.

And he wont quit, because he needs to convert his campaign hoard in to a legal defense fund. That’s how that works.

He will lose the primary, as it appears NJ Democrats have tired of him as everyone from Booker on down has said he’s got to go. Andy Kim is the frontrunner to replace him, and should win the primary (and the general).

Because they’re afraid if they let thousands (or tens of thousands) of refugees enter “temporarily”, it won’t end up being temporary at all. And they’ll be stuck with all these refugees that now they’ll be responsible for.

This. It won’t be temporary and I’m pretty sure that Egypt also fears that refugees might well lead to political instability, economic instability, acts of terrorism, etc.

Guess it was time. 5 years. $0 for maintenance on my Model 3. Now it’s in for repairs. Upper control arm on driver’s side. Honestly can’t complain.

Well. Just something that needed tightening. I’m fine with that. $75 for labor.

Who has to be killed before Stewpid Peters is held accountable for what he says?

George Tiller was assassinated and O’Reilly never suffered any consequences. Could Flynn, because he is retired military, be charged by the military for his conduct?
