Video: The Legendary Mind-Blowing Oscar Peterson Improvised Ballad at the 1979 North Sea Jazz Festival

I heard about this performance through the musicians’ grapevine long ago, but this is the first high quality recording I know of. It really is stunning, and it’s definitely not “The Shadow of Your Smile.”

It sounds like a varied ‘The Shadow of Your Smile’ to me, kind of a ‘fantasie’ -version, but honestly i don’t know what is this track. Maybe one of his own melody he just took out of his pocket.

Guys, do you have any idea what he is playing?
The Shadow of Your Smile? Maybe, but in the end it doesn’t matter, because it is simply great, one of my favourite.

Speaker Jesusbot struck out again!

Mike Johnson’s Attempt to Play Peacemaker at GOP Retreat Falls Flat: Report

House Speaker Mike Johnson spent his time at the House GOP retreat in West Virginia last week playing peacemaker between rival groups of his divided caucus—and one issue seemed to stand out as a priority for the rookie Republican leader: stopping House members from targeting their colleagues in contentious primary races, according to CNN. There are at least four races in which representatives are actively campaigning against other members of the chamber, including in Texas, South Carolina, Illinois, and Virginia. In an interview with the network released Sunday, Johnson said of the inter-party conflicts: “I’ve asked them all to cool it.” He added, “I’m telling everyone who’s doing that to knock it off. And both sides, they’ll say, ‘Well, we didn’t start it, they started it.’” Despite Johnson’s best efforts, however, members seemed to confirm that the trend is only going to worsen in the coming months as the 2024 election looms. “I would love nothing more than to just go after Democrats,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) told CNN following last week’s retreat. “But if Republicans are going to dress up like Democrats in drag, I’m going to go after them too. Because at the end of the day, we’re not judged by how many Republicans we have in Congress. We’re judged on whether or not we save the country.”

Save the country from what, dickhead? People who rape underage girls?

If only.

If Congressional Republicans are really in need of a “peacemaker” for their fractious caucus, they’re certainly not going to get one with a shlepper like Mike Johnson in charge.

Save the country from the ebil woke transgender agenda, because that’s what people are really worried about, not mundane things like getting shot or dying from a deadly new disease or losing their wife to an ectopic pregnancy.

My take on Speaker Jesusbot’s failed endeavor.

Good. Shows how inept Speaker Jesusbot is.

If Newt was still Speaker he would have cracked down and forced obedience OR ELSE.

This is a natural end result of all the gerrymandering to achieve safe R districts.

Maybe it will sink into that jesus-soaked brain of his that, not only do republicans hate each other, they hate him, too. Worse, as a matter of fact. The entire party has been balkanized worse than the Ottoman empire. The house is comprised of some 219 individual fiefdoms who all war amongst themselves, futilely attempting to assume the crown, all the while, the other’s continually pull down anyone attempting to rise above them. It would make a great Marx brothers movie if it wasn’t so damn tragic.

If all five Marx Brothers were still alive any one of them would be a more effective speaker that Jesusbot.

Hell even if the three Ritz Brothers were still alive any one of them could get the House in order.

Even Moe Howard could get them in line by slapping the shit out of them.

All the personages you mention are dead, Joe.

And any of them would probably still make a more effective Speaker than Mike Johnson.

Talking about apartment building, I wanted to share this map of where my son lives:

It’s at 635 and Luna in Farmers Branch. His particular apartment is the one circled in Green. Every other blue ellipse is also an apartment complex. They’re all around four stories tall, except for the ones at Mercer Crossing, which look more like crammed townhomes with individual garages. I would love to know how many people live in all of those apartments. I’m 95% sure those apartments are less than 10 years old, and about 80% sure most of them are less than five years old.

The red location pin in the top left is for a house nearby. My wife looked up information because she’s far better. It is a 3717 sqft house, estimated at $800K.

One of the things that kind of bothers me is that there’s no good place within walking distance to get food. Every one of them has to drive to a store. The closest one, Kroger, is a little over three miles away. While that doesn’t seem far, it’s 7 minutes by car, and that includes the part where they jump on the highway. What’s really funky, is that the only good route to walk (3.4mi) is actually longer than by car (3.1mi), even though the straight distance is 2.3 miles.

His apartment has a small store, but it’s definitely not something you’re going to shop at for most of your necessities.

The small red circle is a Quik Trip gas station, and they charge about 10 cents higher for gas than where we live in Rockwall.

One of the biggest things I miss about where I used to live is that I used to live within easy walking distance of three grocery stores, four pharmacies, several gas stations and probably close to two dozen restaurants.

While I appreciate the house and several acres of land I have now, I have to drive to go places. Even the closest Dollar General is about 4 miles away.

That’s something I love about the apartment my oldest son lives in in Brooklyn, though it’s not something I could live in.

I would also love to hear how much it would cost to set up a rail system so that the average distance to rail for people in the Metroplex matches the one in New York.

Trump will say, standing at the border, “We need to continue to lead in our chip building. If I’m elected, we will also institute a final solution for our problems.”
