“leave it to the states” won’t work

eg: mifepristone
- there’s the usfda and what it does
- and the usps
(note in both cases “U.S. stands for “United States”)

in a more general light
- the right doesn’t want to leave it to the states. it wants sweeping federal limits (bans) everywhere
- the left doesn’t want to leave it to the states. it wants sweeping federal protection everywhere

i’m warming up the “zugzwang”

To those who never felt the 3D and swirlies from a good PA and soundman, and this costs investment in things, the Ryman is a ROOM.
The room the Ryman is, is a gem.
GEM.
The reverb, the slap back, the ROOM is the reason it is what it is.
It was built to project a voice, non amplified, or the instruments. To project.
As anyone who played will tell you, the room will determine your sound.
Now the Ryman has had many a legend on that stage, and many more will follow, if they don’t eff it…
From experience, it matters not how good your sound man is, or your talent.
A bad room will screw you.
And when you go to an older theatre to hear a band, that is a very big plus.
Back in the day we would cover al the frequencies mixed well with that punch you in the face finish.
sigh…………………………..

The Convention is a formality. There’s no reason states can’t send their delegate counts to the DNC ahead of the convention and certify President Biden as the candidate. Then they can have their party and relax.

Hell, he’s got enough delegates now. Certify him tomorrow, make it official, and say that the total delegate count will be recognized at the Convention in August.

The only reason this Alabama law would hold up in a SCOTUS review (and not be in complete violation of the 14th Amendment) would be if the court was utterly corrupted and compromised by several hack Federalist Society members dedicated not to precedence and law, but to electing one single would-be dictator as President .

And Now…This…

Kari Lake melting down as documented by Josh and the TPM Crew

Full Panic Mode Kari Lake

Whatever happens in Arizona in November we got a preview of the difficulty Republican candidates will have in states where high stakes ballot initiatives literally put abortion on the ballot. Shortly after Arizona’s high court ruled that the state must go back to the 1864 abortion law which forbids virtually every abortion, Kari Lake, probable GOP senate nominee (and governor over the water) released a remarkable statement. She first denounced the 1864 law, which she said she supported as recently as last fall. She said she opposed today’s ruling. She then demanded Gov. Katie Hobbs and the Republican state legislature “come up with an immediate common sense solution that Arizonans can support.” She then said that the decision will be up to voters in the ballot initiative that will be on the November ballot, that is, the initiative she actually opposes.

So let’s review. Lake opposes the law she had consistently said she supported. She denounces the court decision which ruled that the old law is in effect. She thinks the decision should be left to the states. She also opposes abortion. Also, Arizona is a state.

She also wants Governor Hobbs to solve the situation. Which would presumably mean making abortion legal. Even though Lake opposes abortion.

She then comes very close to saying that abortion is a very personal issue that should be left to a state and her doctor. No really. I’m not kidding. Here’s the exact quote: “this is a very personal issue that should be determined by each individual state and her people.”

Chaya Raichik Strikes Again

This time whipping up her followers to send bomb threats to Planet Fitness locations…

Back in February, NBC News reported that since November of 2020 there had been at least 33 instances of violent intimidation and at least 21 incidents of bomb threats that could be directly linked back to targets of the LibsOfTikTok Twitter account.

That number has basically doubled in the last month and a half, as rabid followers of the account have inundated Planet Fitness locations all around the United States with bomb threats. Why? Because they have a trans-inclusive locker room policy that allows people to use the changing room that aligns with their gender identity and these bigots have nothing better to do.

But this really set off the creeps. On April 5, Media Matters reported that about 17 Planet Fitness locations had received bomb threats, including:

In addition to the Fairbanks, Alaska, location that reported a threat on March 15, at least four locations in Providence, Rhode Island, four locations in and around Jackson, Mississippi, “many” locations in Connecticut — including East Haven and Hamden gyms — and six locations in Wayne County, Michigan, have investigated similar threats since the campaign began.

As of April 8, the site reported 11 more credible bomb threats — 28 bomb threats in total. These people are losing their actual minds.

And yet Raichik is still on the loose spreading the poison.

It made me wonder about the market for Roman artifacts that escaped the punishment:

“…Because of their high intrinsic value, gold coins were rarely defaced, no matter how hated their subjects might have been. A remarkable exception is a medallion of 3 solidi (13.74 grams) issued in 350 or 351 at Aquileia in northern Italy for the usurper Magnentius.

The reverse of the coin was hammered nearly flat to obliterate the image on Magnentius on horseback. Numerous deep gouges were applied across the face of the usurper on the obverse. This severely damaged piece brought just €2,800 ($3,087) in a 2019 German auction[10]. Undamaged examples of this type typically sell for well over $50,000; a superb example from a 2006 Swiss auction is illustrated[11] above, to show how ferociously the coin was mutilated.”

Another GOP liar…

Former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Michigan) is running in the Republican US Senate primary on his longtime relationship with the Mitten State and his local roots. But a staffer for his Democratic rival just unearthed evidence showing his ties to a state decidedly much further away from his target constituency.

In a Monday tweet, Rogers — who represented Michigan’s 8th Congressional District between 2001 and 2015 — wrote, “I’m proud to be born and raised right here in Michigan. And I will be proud to serve my home in the US Senate.” This prompted Austin Cook, the communications director for Democratic US Senate candidate Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Michigan), to tweet a screenshot of Rogers’ voter registration record that shows a Florida ZIP code and a voter status of “active.”

I was going to suggest T-Mobile Home Internet when I read your Cox woes.

We’re in northern San Diego city and have had T-Mob Home internet for nearly 3 years. It’s pretty darn reliable (if you reboot the gateway regularly). The speeds you quote are pretty typical for us, although, at times, we’ve had a lot better.

Our usage over the period has been about 200 Gbytes per month, but we don’t do a lot of video streaming.

My biggest issue is the lack of flexibility with the gateway configuration. Basically, T-Mobile owns you.

Other than that, we’re happy. At least it’s not Cox (or Spectrum, in our case).

Plus. (hint, hint) You can take the gateway on trips with you, and it will work anywhere that you can get a T-mob signal. We’ve been all over the place with it.

Young voters aren’t warming up to Biden. They know it means Trump could win again.

Love young women who think that Biden is barely better than Trump. Or this one, echoing EVERY single progressive the last 30 years:

Kristian Mansel, 23 said she’s willing to see a Trump victory if it means Biden and Democratic Party learn a lesson. She’s mad Biden and Democrats have failed to protect reproductive rights or wipe out student loans.

“It’s just there’s too many strikes against him and the Democratic Party at this point in general,” said Mansel, a University of Memphis student who considers herself liberal.

She blames the Democrats for the current abortion problems. And somehow wants the student debt fixed. And beleives that Trump woll not really damage our democracy and that we will have a chance for Democrats to win again. Luckily she is in Tennessee so her vote really will not make a difference. What an idiot.
