re: #1000 Walter L. Newton
And it’s the same term translate Leviathan, and in Job we have Leviathan existing with man. Makes no sense.
Please link me to a reference to the Hebrew in Genesis translating to “giant lizard.” I have never heard of that, and I can’t find any reference in my books, or on the internet.
I’ll have to remember to look it up in Schroeder’s books. They’re at home.
I don’t know if the same term is used in Job; he didn’t mention it. (The same translation might be used.)
The transliterated Hebrew is roughly Ha-tanenim ha-gedolim (gadol is “large”, and the -im ending makes it plural to match with the noun). From what I can find of Job on the web, the Hebrew is different; in fact, Leviathan is a rough transliteration.
So no, these are different words.
