The first danger is believing it actually is a form of intelligence.

I think it is unquestionably a form of intelligence. I mean it is a black box, it learns from a set of data you give it. Alpha Go was basically told the rules to Go and then let loose to play itself a billion times to learn the best strategies and was then able to beat the best Go masters in the world using strategies nobody could have predicted.

It may not be sentience, but is certainly a form of intelligence.
