re: #1140 Kosh’s Shadow

From what I’ve read of his books, which is excerpts, he does a good job, in that he accepts both the scientific evidence, and Biblical accounts, making changes in interpretation. For example, he considers the creation of Adam not so much as creation of the a specific hominid, but the combination of the human soul with an existing (or slightly new) creature, and dates this to when art and tools show up in the historical record.
Someday, I’ll have time to read the entire books.
In particular, he doesn’t try to interpret evidence for an old Earth and universe in a way that makes them fit the Biblical time scale.
And he doesn’t require “miracles” other than those allowed by the laws of physics; quantum mechanics allows for a lot of manipulation without violating physical laws. So he doesn’t call on Divine intervention to cover real (temporary) or supposed holes in scientific evidence.

I think the lizards who accept both the Torah and science would find Schroeder acceptable.

Understood. I’m not saying he doesn’t have a valid argument with in the confines of his beliefs and his science. If you are a believer and scientist, than this sort of symbiotic attempts are understandable. But that doesn’t make them true. I am coming from the side of an atheist, so, of course, I’m going to see his writings as an attempt to rectify something that is like apples and oranges.
