historically, a presidential nominee getting a shitton of money for a foreign government would be the sort of thing to take a campaign. Also, in the case of Saudi Arabia, Hungary, and Israel… they’d be risking potential sanctions and otherwise damaging relations with the US. That’s not the sort of bet any of them are going to take.

That’s the other big problem, moving that sort of cash through deniable back channels or shell companies takes time to avoid tripping various alarm bells with federal and state agencies, time that Trump doesn’t have and the courts have made clear they won’t grant him. If any of his foreign “investors” could just cut a check and thus have his ass on loan for half-a-billion dollars, they’d have done so already.
