Condolences.
We are scheduled for a new furnace and A/C unit next week to avoid that very scenario. We signed the contract in late April and this was the first they could get to it, and other than a “yes” to my Are we still on track for that date? question I haven’t heard anything from them, so I’m not betting the farm on it yet.
However, everything is still working OK despite being 30 years old, so I am hopeful.

Recently got new furnace/air handler/two ton AC, cost me $5,150. Kinda curious what yours will be. The old unit lasted 23 years.
