Gannett sucks, yes, but they didn’t censor this specific Doonesbury. They dropped the comic entirely at the end of January as part of a plan to run identical comics pages across all of their hundreds of newspapers.

It’s cheaper for them to do that than to lay out separate pages for each paper. (Or to have editors or local reporters, but that’s a different sob story.)

Stupid. But then, I have not read a Doonesbury in a paper for close to 20 years now. Same with every other comic.

It is why Go Comics exists.
