If I got a do-over, I would love to either be a stone mason or a blacksmith.

I’d love to learn silver and goldsmithing. I don’t have the strength for big stuff, like most smithies do. But I like jewelry and lot and most of my hobbies are fine, micro work.

I was a wall paper hanger for a while. I loved it, but the body didn’t hold up.

The only problem with the trades is that many wear out the body. One has to have a good plan B. You can make a good buck for the first 25 years, but you have to have planned and saved to finance Plan B.

THe upside is that people in middle age are choosing to retrain and reeducate themselves now for totally different careers. There doesn’t seem to be the barriers there used to be. A friend of mine just finished nursing school. AT 45 she is an RN and has a whole new life.

How cool is that?
