When it comes to the “bloodbath” comment, I don’t think the context matters very much. Regardless of what he’s talking about, the subtext is clear: It’s a threat. “Vote for me, or something very bad will happen to this country.” Regardless of whether it’s physical violence or economic ruin, that’s mob boss talk. An actual presidential candidate should not be out there saying, “Vote for me, or else,” regardless of what the “or else” is.

Bloodbath is commonly used in finance to describe a major selloff. If you search Bloomberg or WSJ for the term you’ll find plenty examples of it from times of financial crisis. Using it in terms of the auto industry makes sense from that perspective, though I think that he’s completely wrong about it.
