That’s why we have to get rid of those Big Brother child-labor laws. God made those fingers tiny for a reason.

Girls used to learn to spin as soon as they could sit-upright. Takes a lot of time and little fingers to make a enough skeins to have a new sweater or blanket.

Lots of old drawings show the little girls (actually every girl) with a distaff. Boys chopped firewood and girls spun.

Very time consuming. I tried it, but the shoulders couldn’t do it. I did find it soothing, rather therapuedic tho.
