I hope the next election will bring some NEW people into office. I think the old party hacks have lost their base. The whackos might just scare the parties into some sanity.

I wish we could scrap them all and start over.

I really don’t understand this point of view. We saw some NEW people offered up in the last election— like Angle and O’Donnell. I don’t get why the whackos are supposed to scare parties into sanity, rather than make them cater to those who vote for the whackos.

As long as we have the same power structures in place, which we do, we’ll have the same form of politics. One of the main causes of this is the amount of money in politics. That amount is now larger than ever before, thanks to the recent Supreme Court decision.

Another reason is the completely debased media we have in this country.

We have systemic problems that can’t be blamed directly on the politicians. We have cultural problems.
