Yeah, in public they’re not going to say it looked awful. Heck even after the infamous Palin-Couric interview, to the press McCain’s team spun for Sarah just as Mitt’s team will for Clint, perhaps not as much because Mitt doesn’t need Clint as much as McCain needed Sarah for obvious reasons. I bet that Mitt’s advisers are really regretting having Clint speak because it totally distracted from their candidate’s speech. Between now and the debates, this was the chance for the largest audience to get an idea of who he is and what he’s all about. And it’s been upstaged by an empty chair.
