Yay, my son found his keys. Now, while he’s home, I have to see if I can find a relatively cheap place to get a copy of the key.

That is great since some of the key+fobs can cost hundreds of dollars to duplicate.

You might want to consider attaching a Tile, airtag, or other tracker to the keyset. They variously use bluetooth, cellular, and other methods to help locate the tag and what is attached to it. Additionally, some also have a network of other devices that report tag location to a central system.

Tile has worked well for me.

One Tile issue is that I understand that newer Tile unit batteries are sealed and no longer replaceable.
