There’s lots of those, I’ve used RAMBooster in the past, its freeware, though I haven’t had many problems recently so I haven’t installed it.

If you have to use those, something’s usually very wrong. OS X and Windows usually do a good job juggling the resources on a PC. I don’t use memory-freeing tools. On Windows, I DO use the Sysinternals utilities, particularly Process Explorer.
