Really? Take 5 to 8 percent of the daily commuter traffic in OKC, spread it across southeastern Oklahoma for a couple of hours and you have Armageddon of the Roads?
Some goober burgs are closing their schools for the day. When I was in the third grade, there was an eclipse and we were in the path of totality. School was not canceled. They gave us these cheap cardboard “eclipse glasses” and we trooped outside to watch for ourselves. It was a treat.

During the last eclipse, we left quickly when it was over — if we had waited a few more minutes, we could have be stuck on the road for hours, as happened to my nephew who lives in Champaign and traveled elsewhere for viewing.
