Consider me weird, but I prefer self checkout. Faster (for me anyway) and I bag things exactly as I wish them to be.

At the Japanese grocery stores I always used, the checkers were usually in pairs, one taking things out of your basket (on the belt), and ringing up the price, the second one putting stuff back in a basket. Then I take the basket of paid goods to a bench and put the stuff in plastic bags as I wanted.

It was always extremely fast.
