With Trump being such an abject moron, it’s entirely possible that him testifying could blow apart his entire defense by discrediting all of his more intelligent co-conspirators, accusing them of lying in order to make himself look good on the stand. That, more than anything else, is the reason why his lawyers will never let him take the stand, if they can avoid it.

He took the stand in his civil trial and it was a disaster. He just kept attacking the court and the process in his answers…I don’t even think he listened to the questions he was asked.

In a criminal trial, he’d try to do the same, and the jury would be so turned off by his behavior that any possible allies he had on the jury would be ready to abandon him.
