Small soap-box: So the NWS updated their web page for real time data from any given reporting station (both NWS and other sources.)

Used to have a column for air pressure in millibars.

In the new webpage arrangement one can choose how the page describes values - either in metric (usually SI) or in “standard” (which means American version of English units.)

Even in the old webpage, when one selected standard units the air pressure was given in three columns, one of which was in millibars.

Now the new page only gives inches of mercury (Hg.)

I have to switch the page to metric to get millibars, but then the temp is in C and I want F.

Sure, the new arrangement is more consistent, but not as useful to me.

Oh, and it’s not really consistent, because even in “standard” mode the solar radiance is given in Watts per square meters.

If one is going to use “standard” American values then the solar radiance should be in horsepower per square yards.

Maybe even the NWS boffins thought that might be going a bit too far in being “standard”??
