His lawyers probably told him not to. This only hardened his resolve, because nobody tells Donald J. Trump what to do. That forced Alina Habba (who is a willing participant in all this, by the way - she’s a true believer) to come up with some excuse for why they would let him commit this act of unspeakable stupidity. What little is left of the actual lawyer that used to occupy her brain is probably heaving a big sigh of relief into her nightly bottle of wine.
