Trump says enough stupid/evil shit directly without the need for interpretation. I tend to interpret what people say charitably.
I don’t think that it serves me well to interpret everything my opponents say in the worst possible light, or interpret what my allies say surrounded by a halo. But you do you.

If Trump didn’t have the track record that he has, I would agree that maybe there should be some leeway in how we interpret him, but…
