re: #258 Dopamine Fish

Well, an Englishman’s home is his castle, which means it should be properly fortified and armed, amirite?

Assuming you had permission.

There are examples of a royal (or other) army slighting (wrecking) fortifications to prevent their use as defenses without extensive repairs. A lot of the still intact medieval castles in England got slighted during the English Civil War.

Something interesting I’ve noted in a game I am playing called “Vintage Story”. Sort of Minecraft-like and you start at a Stone Age tech and work your way up. You find ruins made of cobble along with other things. And one thing that happens is that the ruins near settlements get stripped of their stone since collecting the cobble blocks is easier and less damaging to your tools than making your own cobble blocks. (Which is historical since people would strip any abandoned stone structure if they could for the useful construction materials.)
