The Red Hats whose PPP loans were forgiven. Trump wants all of “his” documents back. Why are the Republicans so obsessed with Dr. Fauci? COVID deaths under Trump vs Biden. Ron DeSantis’s ridiculous Fauci remarks. Don’t worry, Matt Gaetz is still under federal investigation. Republicans are bringing back corporal punishment in schools. Great news about DACA. Based on the name, it looks like Truth Social’s hosting is by wingnuts, so Trump is just scamming his own idiot fans.

Karl Rove warning for the unrelated autoplay video.

Former President Donald Trump’s social media outfit, Truth Social, is locked in a bitter battle with one of its vendors claiming that the platform is stiffing the company out of more than $1 million in contractually obligated payments, FOX Business has learned.

If the allegations are true, they would suggest that Truth Social’s finances are in significant disarray, people with direct knowledge of the matter say. Internet infrastructure company RightForge is said to be among Truth Social’s largest vendors and creditors, these people say.

In October, RightForge announced it entered into an agreement to host Truth Social, which Trump helped create after he was banned by Twitter following the Jan. 6 riots. RightForge now contends that Truth Social has reneged on its contractually obligated monthly payments for setting up the platform’s web-servicing infrastructure, according to three people with direct knowledge of the matter.

These people say RightForge contends that Truth Social has made just three payments and ceased making any payments since around March. RightForge claims that Truth Social owes it around $1.6 million and is threatening legal action to recoup the money, these people add.

So, the Student Loan Plan will cost $3.9 billion, not the $500 Billion quoted by Fox.

Is Fox lying, or are they just fucking liars (Quoted today on Faux News: crfb.org)?

Please discuss below!

In addition, the next Gerald R. Ford class aircraft carrier for the U.S. Navy will cost $13.3 billion. Which is the bigger economic stimulus, less than 1/3 of the cost of a new U.S. Navy ship or helping 40 million young Americans to have their debt wiped out or significantly lowered?

If you need help figuring this out, please ask someone with a Liberal Arts education which is broad enough to allow them to explain the nuances of basic economics with you.

But everyone does it.

So much of twitter is projection.

re: #40 Dopamine Fish

This is a grammar police thing that I am giving up on and now vote—probably much belatedly—we should no longer care: the “than me” vs “than I” distinction. I have listened to a few podcasts in recent years with some extremely smart and well educated writers and thinkers and no one gets this right on the fly. Here, it should be “…as much as I [do].” But like the “who vs whom” distinction I have posted about before, no one seems to know any more,* so…. I guess I am really just telling myself to move along. Thank you, and I hope everyone are loving it.

ETA: *fuck, is it anymore or any more?

This is huge.

A proposal to enshrine abortion rights in the Michigan Constitution gathered enough valid signatures to make the November ballot, the Detroit News reports.

The “Reproductive Freedom for All” ballot measure turned in 752,288 signatures in July, a record number that exceeded the state-mandated signature tally of 425,059.

It’s I-10. I went through there in June on my way to LA to protest and I definitely remember Desert Center because it’s pretty close to the middle of nowhere. I’m thinking that if I want to go now, I’d have to take a detour at Quartzite to Parker to Twentynine Palms to north of Palm Springs. Taking I-8 or I-40 is *seriously* out of the way.

* The absolute end of all roads in the USA is Lordsburg, NM, also on I-10. Just my personal opinion, and based on personal experience.

The male/gamergate crowd in melt down over alpha-female Galadriel have ideation of passive women with anatomically impossibly big breasts.

So Rings of Power comes out and all of a sudden their fantasies are crushed.

Yes, and this Galadriel wears appropriate gear to cover her chest, not for some male fantasy!

Final arrangements for tomorrow’s trip.

Programming Note: Perhaps Our Esteemed Host Mr. Johnson can create a “rant” font.

[rant]

Had to deal with a too-big-to-fail bank trying to book ferry passage from Fortune, NL to St. Pierre. The charge is in Euros to a French company, so the credit card company wanted to send a text to my cellphone to approve it. Funny thing about landlines, they don’t accept texts.

On the telephone with too-big-to-fail bank trying to explain there is no cellphone service here, no I can’t have the text sent to my neighbour either, please for the love of God look at a cellphone coverage map of Nebraska and tell me I need to go to Sterling, Colorado to find someone to accept your damn text to approve my charge, can you just punch it in yourselves, I need to get a supervisor, forty-five minutes hold, click.

Call back and as what the hell is going on, do you only have one IT person in your whole-ass worldwide bank? Thirty more minutes hold, then “can you check your E-mail Sir to see if your charge went through?”

E-mail pops in showing it was manually approved, followed by another from the ferry company to print out two round-trip tickets.

I hate fookin’ credit cards. Until we leave Nebraska we can use cheques and cash from the bank today. My ATM card is good everywhere in the world (well, maybe not Russia now).

[/rant]

I went to the general store to dump my piggy bank in coins to get currency (and fish out my Canadian coins from the bank). Stores here are always hard up for change because it is such a long drive to go to the bank to get change in the middle of the day.

I had about $12 of Canadian toonies and loonies and smaller coins.

I WON THE LOTTO! $4 and four free tickets in the 2x2 for tonight’s draw.

re: #42 Barefoot Grin

This is a grammar police thing that I am giving up on and now vote—probably much belatedly—we should no longer care: the “than me” vs “than I” distinction. I have listened to a few podcasts in recent years with some extremely smart and well educated writers and thinkers and no one gets this right on the fly. Here, it should be “…as much as I [do].” But like the “who vs whom” distinction I have posted about before, no one seems to know any more,* so…. I guess I am really just telling myself to move along. Thank you, and I hope everyone are loving it.

ETA: *fuck, is it anymore or any more?

I care.

A sentence such as “Nobody cares more than I [do]” for example. “Than” is a conjunction used to introduce a comparison. Thus, in such a comparison, both nouns should be subjects.

“Whom” is easier. It is used as the object of a verb, after a preposition when introducing a person, or as an interrogative (“to whom is he married?”)

Top Fox News talent including Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs and Tucker Carlson are expected to sit for depositions next week in the $1.6 billion defamation suit being pursued against the top cable network by Dominion Voting Systems, The New York Times reported.

Jeanine Pirro, Steve Doocy and producers of Fox News shows have already given their testimony, according to The Times. Dobbs, who no longer works for the network, will be questioned in Delaware Superior Court on Tuesday; Hannity is due in court on Wednesday, and Carlson will go Friday.

The braindead Trump cult are very fond of deathSantis and think of him as a brilliant and successful governor, who knows how to keep minorities suppressed, can subdue successful corporations like Disney, and who, in addition, has the hearty support of the anti-vax community. There are many contenders to lead the party if the original falters (if there were justice, Trump and his despicable crew would have long since been vaporized by a bolt of lightning), Republicans who are eager to spread the message of white supremacy and autocracy that Trump so effectively carried for years. I don’t think the GOP is ready to abandon this message even if Trump departs the scene; it has worked successfully for them.

Acts 2 says Christians should pool all their money or property to pay each other’s debts. You might call that “communism” or perhaps “debt-relief.”

And as for Christians not forcing third parties, forget not paying attention in Sunday School, they didn’t pay attention to a thousand years of Christianity where they did precisely that and slaughtered anyone who didn’t agree with them. We call that the Dark Ages for a reason.

On this day the Biden Admin chose a most delicious violence, I discovered some new decliciocity. Had great Mexican in Maui last night: great salsas of various heat and flavor, wonderful mole (although unspiced chicken breast was one star knocked off).

I pilfered a small bowl of mole. Double wrapped in bags, stuffed in shoe, packed in baggage. No fucking way I’m succumbing to the 3.5oz TSA Nazis on this shit. I have been burned before on my Hammajang sauce which was clearly only 3.3 oz.

One bag burst, the secondary didn’t. All good. But in the extraction, a small loss of the luxurious brown elixir on top of a California Pizza Kitchen box. This is a problem. I slide the fabulous lossage (band name) onto the pepperoni pie and reheat in the oven. Not a large amount. 4 hundo for 5 minuto to reheata da pizza da pie.

If nobody told me there was mole on there I would not have figured it out. But it was divine. So I’m opening a Wood Fired Mole Pizza restaurant. In Darth’s house. As soon as I can convince him and his lovely and accomodating wife.

I’ve done this before on other trips to Canada and Europe: I contact the village board by E-mail and the village clerk by telephone (if in the USA) so the person I’ve asked can carry out proclamations. Acts 5 tells a tale about a couple that refused to give the money from the sale of their house to the cult. They were “stricken dead by the Lord” (nudge nudge wink wink) for it. …hmm.. I guess cold blooded murder by leadership in front of the congregation to serve as an threat to the rest of the sheep counts as “divine” retribution, but in any case what we have here is a Biblical example of no such thing as “freedom” when it comes to financial decisions and what to do with your own money.

It’s not that, so much. The full story is that they gave PART of the money, but then told people they gave ALL the money, in order to appear pious and generous while profiting handsomely. You know, like certain pulpit pimps we have here in the United States always do. I really think God should revisit His policy of not intervening directly in such matters and set a few more examples.

Guess someone in the WH realized that you have to start using the pointy end of the stick against the GOP. We cannot play nice with people who will always lie and deny reality to get and remain in power.

Yoda: “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”

Dune: “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. The outcomes of the “polypill” were so compelling — a 24% reduction in heart disease-related deaths or further heart problems — that researchers plan to submit the data to the Food and Drug Administration for approval, said the study’s lead author, Dr. Valentin Fuster, the director of Mount Sinai Heart and physician-in-chief of Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

A federal judge has ruled that a Texas law that bans people ages 18 to 20 from carrying handguns in public is unconstitutional, saying the restriction is inconsistent with the Second Amendment and US history.

The decision follows a transformational Supreme Court ruling in June which significantly expanded gun owners’ rights to carry firearms outside the home and raised the threshold that authorities must meet when defending gun restrictions.

District Court Judge Mark Pittman stated that the Texas restriction on “law-abiding 18-to-20-year-olds” is inconsistent with the Constitution because the Second Amendment itself does not state an age restriction, and minors were part of state militias that existed in the formative years of American history.

The same reasoning has been used recently by other Trump-appointed judges to rule against gun purchase limits for older teens.

Federalist Society judges are there to destroy our democracy and cause death and violence everywhere.

I had a few things to say today to Christian types who were going off about the loan forgiveness.

Just to be clear, I have a problem with the theology expressed in the second tweet, because I don’t believe in Penal Substitutionary Atonement, but I used that theology anyway because it fit.

Jesus told a parable about a wealthy man who decided to forgive a servants debt after the servant begged him to do it. Then that servant REFUSED to forgive a debt that someone else owed HIM after being begged to do it. When the wealthy man found out about it, he went all “What the fuck is wrong with you, you hypocrite?!” on the original servant and God subsequently punished the servant for being an asshole.

This is also the same section of the bible where a man asks Jesus “How often shall I forgive my brother if he sins against me?” and Jesus says either seventy seven times or seventy times seven times depending on which translation you go by. In other words, forgiveness is really fucking important to Jesus (and God by extension).

While they command police protection and extra legal protection for their homes and selves from the likes of peaceful protesters. The elite will retreat to their gated communities with fences and private security while everyone else is left to fend for themselves.

Very 3rd World, where houses are fortified compounds, every ground floor window had metal grates on it, and the paranoia about “others” runs rampant. Assuming you had permission.

en.wikipedia.org

There are examples of a royal (or other) army slighting (wrecking) fortifications to prevent their use as defenses without extensive repairs. A lot of the still intact medieval castles in England got slighted during the English Civil War.

Something interesting I’ve noted in a game I am playing called “Vintage Story”. Sort of Minecraft-like and you start at a Stone Age tech and work your way up. You find ruins made of cobble along with other things. And one thing that happens is that the ruins near settlements get stripped of their stone since collecting the cobble blocks is easier and less damaging to your tools than making your own cobble blocks. (Which is historical since people would strip any abandoned stone structure if they could for the useful construction materials.)

People don’t realize, the treads on tires aren’t designed to drive through standing water. If you’ve ever hit a puddle and felt your car pull suddenly to the side, that’s the tire essentially losing grip and your car basically pushing toward the suddenly loose corner. If you drive through running water, or get caught sitting in a car in running water, it doesn’t take much for even brand new tires to get overwhelmed.

People are so stupid that they don’t realize that after funds are distributed loosely in a crisis, there’s a process to catch them later when resources allow.

The Secret Service said Friday that it has recovered $286 million in Covid relief funds that were meant for small businesses but were siphoned off by fraudsters using thousands of stolen or fake identities.

The conspirators used fake identities to apply for Covid relief funds known as Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL), and created 15,000 accounts at Green Dot Bank, an online institution in Texas, to try to access the money using debit cards. Green Dot notified the Secret Service when it discovered suspicious accounts, and the EIDL money was returned to the Small Business Administration, which had administered the relief funds.

Assistant Special Agent in Charge Roy Dotson, the lead pandemic fraud investigator for the Secret Service, said at a news conference Friday that there are “many actors” and a “myriad of potential suspects behind the fraud,” and believes there could be domestic and international co-conspirators.

There are examples of a royal (or other) army slighting (wrecking) fortifications to prevent their use as defenses without extensive repairs. A lot of the still intact medieval castles in England got slighted during the English Civil War.

Skipton Castle in North Yorkshire, famously known for Cromwell’s slighting.

But Lady Anne Clifford famously restored it.

Former Attorney General William Barr said that former President Donald Trump was resorting to “extortion” to continue to exert influence over the Republican Party, and said he still hasn’t decided what to make of the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago and the government’s recovery of hundreds of pages of classified documents.

In a lengthy interview published Thursday, former New York Times editor Bari Weiss asked Barr why more Republicans did not simply come out and say that Trump’s claims that election fraud had prevented him from winning the 2020 election were, to use Barr’s previous word, “bullshit.”

“The tactic that Trump is using to exert this control over the Republican Party is extortion,” Barr said of his former boss. “What other great leader has done this? Telling the party, ‘If it’s not me, I’m going to ruin your election chances by telling my base to sit home. And I’ll sabotage whoever you nominate other than me.’ It shows what he’s all about. He’s all about himself.”

Federalist Society judges are there to destroy our democracy and cause death and violence everywhere.

in other news, Benjamin the Horse was confirmed as being the senior senator from the state of Texas. In his ruling, the judge noted that since Roman times (see Caligula v. Keith Richards), horses have been allowed to sit as senators. The horse, the Honorable Benjamin B. Forrest, is much relieved, as his ass has been serving as the junior senator from Texas since 2013, and this will give them a chance to spend more time together.

Yeah, it’s Trump claiming that the NA didn’t find anything, and that this is all a hoax bulkshit that he spewed on Truth Social. The redactions are throughout the entire document, because of the sensitivity of the information that Trump mishandled and took without any authority to do so.

Redactions due to the sensitivity of the information Trump took, the natsec implications of what was taken and security implication compromising assets, natsec gathering means, etc.
