Which is why I object when many (secular) writers say the Jesus established Christianity. That’s just a false claim. “Christianity” was established by, if anyone, a certain ex Pharisee by the name of Saul who travelled around the eastern Mediterranean re-interpreting parts of the Torah in light of the group of Jesus’ followers who still lived in Jerusalem in the 40’s and 50’s. And even then, those groups (“churches”) Saul/Paul influenced would hardly be recognizable today as “Christian”, given that almost all Christian traditions have arisen from later mixing of Pagan/Greco-Roman practices and ideas with the modified Judaism.
