re: #267 Dr Lizardo

I watched the first part of Akira and fell asleep. It’s groundbreaking and all that but it’s also incoherent story-wise. The Fatal Eight Words eventuated — “I don’t care what happens to these people” — and I stopped watching. Even trying to read the manga which the movie excerpted caused me to stop caring and I abandoned the effort. Same with Neon Genesis Evangelion but I have a hate on for doormat characters in anime and manga and no great love for giant mecha storylines, having been in the robotics biz for a time a while back.

Good news though for manga fans — Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is finally (FINALLY!) getting a legal English-language release from Seven Seas, in five large-format tankos. Quite a few manga fans think it the best manga ever, myself included.
